Authorised by La Trobe University
The goal of the project is to produce and conduct cyber security awareness campaigns to increase awareness of cyber security amongst staff and students at La Trobe University. This is in order to reduce the risk of cyber incidents and data breaches in the university.
LTUISO: Security Induction Training is a non-credentialed, non-compulsory subject offered to students and staff across all La Trobe campuses, including online and offshore students. LTUISO can be completed in approximately an hour and is explicitly designed to minimise overhead on students and staff, keeping in mind how busy they can get. The purpose of this subject is to make students and staff aware of the importance of following adequate cybersecurity practices when using digital systems, to protect their identity and confidential information. Upon the completion of LTUISO, graduates are expected to achieve the following Subject Intended Learning Outcomes (SILOs):
Graduates will:
understand the common attacks against passwords and the impacts of a password compromise.
learn the components of an adequately complicated password for hackers to attempt to compromise.
understand the psychology of phishing emails and what to do if they receive one.
be able to identify phishing emails successfully.
learn how to protect their personal and academic information while on campus, travelling interstate or overseas, by using various tools and services.
The current webpage will go through a revamp of both its style and content. The main goals of the revamp will be to:
Update aesthetic of website
Link relevant information to the newly created ‘LTUISO: Security Induction Training’ LMS test
Link to La Trobe Universities ‘Cybersecurity Courses and Degrees’ page
Add a reporting option for people who have seen something they deem suspicious
Add a frequently asked questions (FAQs) page
Relevant topics relating to the LTUISO training modules will have their own dedicated pages. They will have a quick description and link in the main page that then takes them to the dedicated, more in-depth pages. Depending on how much the LMS unit grows to include more comprehensive information, these pages can be added to and updated.
Additional content for pages to include (but not limited to):
